COVINGTON -- Three people were killed in a two-car collision about 8:20 Friday night on Ga. Highway 36, just south of Piper Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
There were five passengers in a Pontiac Grand AM that was driven by Newton County resident Tesha Amanda Barrington. Barrington, 22, and two female passengers, ages 37 and 16, were killed. Barrington's 2-year-old child and a 32-year-old male from Rockmart were injured.
"The Pontiac was at fault. She pulled out in an attempt to go north on 36 into the path of a Chevrolet pickup," said GSP spokesman Lt. Paul Cosper, adding that the names of the two female passengers who died were not being released pending notification of next of kin."
"We're desperately trying to find relatives. They're from out of state. We know who they are, but we haven't been able to locate next of kin," he said.
The driver of the pickup was from Newton County and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
