Adam Cofer, 18-year-old Newton High School graduate and member of Boy Scout Troop 222, recently earned his Eagle Scout designation by performing a project at Academy Springs Park in Covington. He is congratulated here by Troop 222 Leader Jerry Aldridge. Cofer placed identification markers on the park's trees, shrubs and plants to promote awareness of the natural resources abundant in the park. Cofer has since joined the U.S. Navy and plans to pursue a career in air rescue. He is son of Elizabeth James and Todd Cofer.
