COVINGTON -- Troy University will host a summer open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Covington location at 1160 Monticello St.
Prospective students and community members who want to learn more about the school or get a look at the new facility, open since November, are invited to attend. The 12,000-square-foot space was fully renovated in preparation for Troy's relocation there and includes virtual classrooms, administrative offices, a student lounge and a computer lab. Troy was previously located at Cousins Center on Geiger Street.
"The summer open house is a great opportunity for anyone who has questions regarding earning an associate, bachelor's or master's degree to come out and learn more about what Troy has to offer," said J.L. Wyatt, business development director for the Covington site. "At our open house, individuals can speak directly with professors or academic advisors and get information on specific programs and admissions requirements."
The college is planning to host three open houses per year, she said. The event will include refreshments and goody bags.
"This is an impromptu way to learn how to get started if you're interested in higher learning; just drop in," Wyatt said.
The Covington site of Troy University offers a variety of degree programs, including business administration, psychology and criminal justice. Classes are now forming for the next term beginning Aug. 15. Classes are offered during the evenings and on weekends as well as online. Troy is an accredited four-year college with more than 60 teaching sites in 15 states and 12 foreign countries.
