A young man was wounded by a gunshot in the arm and hip Friday afternoon on Geiger Street.
Lt. Ken Malcom with the Covington Police Department said investigators were interviewing witnesses Friday afternoon to determine the nature of the incident. "We are looking into the possibility that it was an accidental shooting," he said.
Malcom said the victim was shot in the forearm and the bullet passed through his forearm and into his hip. "He was transported to Grady (Memorial Hospital) by ground ambulance. It does not appear that his injuries were life-threatening," Malcom said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 2 p.m., Malcom said. The victim was shot either inside a residence on Geiger Street or at the entrance to the house, he said.
Investigators were questioning three witnesses in connection with the incident, Malcom said.
