COVINGTON -- Newton County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking two persons of interest in connection with the murder of a man Tuesday night in the southwestern portion of the county.
According to NCSO spokesman Lt. Keith Crum, Covington/Newton County 911 dispatchers received a call about 11:30 p.m. from a man who said he had been stabbed. He said he was at Lot 13 of the Pineridge Mobile Home Park at 5110 Ga. Highway 20, near the Rockdale County line.
"Deputies arrived at the location and looked through a window and saw a Hispanic male on the floor. They forced entry and EMS was called. He died at the scene," Crum said.
Investigators are not releasing the man's identity pending notification of next of kin. Crum said the man was in his 40s.
Crum said investigators also were not ready to release any specifics about the stabbing and said they did not recover the murder weapon.
"We're looking for two people of interest. We haven't established a cause or a motive," he said.
The body has been taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab for a forensic examination.
