COVINGTON -- A Newton County woman died and her husband was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Salem Road Saturday night, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Dianne Hickly, 64, was a passenger on the motorcycle her 68-year-old husband was driving when a vehicle operated by a 47-year-old woman struck them. The impact knocked the couple from the bike. Mrs. Hickly died and her husband was transported to Walton Medical Center with serious injuries.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Salem Road near the intersection with Kirkland Road. A 1998 Buick LeSabre being driven by a Covington woman pulled out from a shopping center and struck the 2007 Honda Goldwing motorcycle in the right side, according to GSP spokesman Gordy Wright.
"Alcohol is not suspected in the crash and the investigation has been turned over to the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team," Wright said.
