Brody Hartley, 13, of Lilburn, was the winner in the 15-16-year-old category at the Oxford Hills Road Race on Friday.

Hartley, an avid cyclist since he was very little, has earned enough points in his racing to advance into a higher age bracket. The race route was a 10-mile loop through Oxford starting and ending at Providence Christian School. The race is part of the Georgia Cycling Gran Prix taking place in Newton through Sunday.

Saturday, about 300 cyclists will participate in the Downtown Covington Criterium from 2:30 to 8 p.m., zipping through city streets at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. The race will begin and end at the Newton County Historic Courthouse on the Square and spectators are encouraged to line the race route.
