Newton County Public Works employee Carl Jirzzard preps the right of way off Airport Road on Monday in order to widen a turn lane to accommodate buses that will be traveling the road when Flint Hill Elementary School opens Aug. 4. The county is rushing to complete temporary improvements to the road before the new school opens. The road will remain open but there may be temporary lane closures during construction, and County Engineer Tom Garrett said it may be more convenient for motorists to access Airport Road from Ga. Highway 81 north of Oxford until the project is complete.
