COVINGTON — Residents in the Oxford and Stansells precincts will be heading to a new location the next time they go to the polls.
The Board of Elections recently changed locations for those two precincts. The Oxford precinct polling site will be moved from the Community Center to the new Oxford City Hall at 110 West Clark St. "There's better parking and a larger area for them to vote," said Board of Elections Director Donna Morrison. The Stansells precinct voting location has been changed from Believer's Fellowship Assembly of God on Christian Circle to Voice of Pentecost at 4648 Salem Road. "(Believer's Fellowship) requested they be deleted as a polling site," Morrison said. The change will affect Oxford voters this year, when they vote in the November municipal election, but Stansells voters won't go to their new location until the next countywide election in 2012. The changes are not official because approval has not yet been handed down by the U.S. Department of Justice. Approval by the Department of Justice usually takes about 60 days, Morrison said. Registered voters will receive new precinct cards prior to the first election in which the changes become effective, Morrison said.More like this story
