With the advent of the 183rd annual Salem Camp Meeting beginning today, families were turning up Thursday to air out and clean up their cabins, or "tents" as they're known among the faithful, at the Salem Road campgrounds. Newton County sisters Laura Kemp and Dana Kemp gave the cabin their father built many years ago a good going over. Both Kemp sisters have been attending camp meeting their entire lives and they have always stayed in the family tent. Camp meeting will get under way with supper at the Salem Hotel at 6 p.m. with worship services beginning at 8 p.m. Services will continue daily at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. through Friday, July 15. Additionally, there will be morning devotional services at 7:30 a.m., July 11-15.
