COVINGTON -- A 23-year-old Newton County man was killed in a car crash Saturday night on Brown Bridge Road around 8 p.m.
Christopher Charles Glass of Covington was killed in the one-vehicle crash and according to the Georgia State Patrol, he had been reported missing the day before.
GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said evidence showed that Glass was driving a 1999 Jeep Wrangler in a westbound direction and left the roadway on the south shoulder. The Jeep then hit a tree.
"There were no (other) people in the vehicle. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor and he was wearing his seat belt," Wright said, adding the exact time of the crash was unknown.
Wright said a total of 92 citations were issued by troopers in Newton County during the Fourth of July holiday period from 6 p.m. Friday until midnight Monday night.
"They worked five crashes, no injuries reported, and one fatality," Wright said.
