COVINGTON -- The Newton County Sheriff's Office made two arrests this week in connection with two separate reports of sexual assault.
Donald Keith Patterson, 32, of 65 Riverbrooke Trail faces charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation and sexual battery.
A 15-year-old baby sitter told her parents about the alleged assault and they notified authorities, according to NCSO spokesman Lt. Keith Crum.
Crum said the girl was staying at the suspect's house until the early morning hours with his children.
"She called her parents after the incident and they came and picked her up," Crum said.
Patterson said the assault consisted of "inappropriate touching."
In other crime news, 19-year-old Jaquon Marquevious Giles of 5925 Bretton Woods Drive, Lithonia, has been charged with rape in connection with an assault that allegedly took place in May.
Crum said a 17-year-old female was taken to the hospital by her parents who reported the rape approximately a month after the incident and the NCSO was notified.
He said the young girl said she had met Giles through Facebook and they had met in person by mutual arrangement. Later on she invited him to her residence where the assault allegedly occurred.
"We investigated the allegations and arrested Giles," Crum said.
