Willie Williams and Curtis Hardeman with Newton County Public Works shovel sand onto the ice at the McGiboney Road Recycling Center off Brown Bridge Road on Friday afternoon. The recycling center and two others closed at noon Thursday due to icy roadways and reopened at noon Friday. All recycling centers will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Citations will be issued to anyone who leaves garbage outside the gates.
