CONYERS -- Conyers Police are still looking for a Covington man thought to be responsible for a shooting at BJ's Wholesale Club last Friday night.
Conyers Police Department Capt. Mike Waters said Thursday that active arrest warrants are out for the suspected shooter, identified as 33-year-old Oshea Lamarr Tinsley.
Police responded to a report of a traffic accident at about 4 p.m. Jan. 7 on Dogwood Drive, Waters said. Police went out to investigate the crash and discovered it apparently involved one vehicle trying to run another vehicle off the road.
"Witnesses on scene advised that it did not appear the accident was an accident. It appeared to be purposeful," Waters said.
The vehicle being chased crashed in front of BJ's Wholesale Club and the second vehicle pulled up and fired a gunshot into the crashed car and drove off, according to the police.
Waters said both vehicles were able to leave the scene after the shooting. Police found the shooter's vehicle, a Buick, abandoned at a nearby apartment complex. The other vehicle turned up at a hospital emergency room with the shooting victim. The victim was shot once in the arm.
The shooting is still an active investigation, Waters said, and the reason the Buick ran the other vehicle off the road has yet to be determined.
Two people were arrested in the incident on minor unrelated charges, Waters said.
With Tinsley still at large, anyone with information on the shooting or any other suspicious activity is asked to call Conyers Police Department at 770-483-6600.
