Icy roads and snow have closed many businesses and organizations in Newton County.
Newton County government offices are closed today, and Newton County Schools are closed to all students and staff for today and Tuesday, according to Superintendent Gary Mathews. Tuesday's school board work session and Thursday's public budget meeting also were postponed.
Additionally, Oxford city offices are closed today, and the work session scheduled for tonight is postponed until later this week, according to Oxford Mayor Jerry Roseberry.
Additionally, Oxford College is closed for at least today, and Georgia Perimeter College has canceled all Monday and Tuesday classes, according to its Web site.
Newton County 911 reported several accidents and road closures overnight and continue to warn residents not to drive unless they have to do so.
