CONYERS -- Police were on the lookout for the driver of one car who is believed to have shot the driver of another car Friday afternoon during a confrontation at a traffic incident on Dogwood Drive. One man was wounded in the shooting.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in front of the BJ's Warehouse store at 1800 Dogwood Drive. According to Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson, detectives believed a driver of one car was chasing the driver of another westbound on Dogwood Drive.

The car being chased crashed in front of the store, then the driver of the second pulled up, fired a gunshot into the crashed car and drove off.

"Apparently, one car was trying run the other off the road," Wilson said.

The man who was shot was taken to Rockdale Medical Center for treatment. Wilson said the victim was shot once in the arm and his injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Police activity was heavy in the area shortly after the shooting was reported. Detectives were continuing their work into the evening Friday, as witnesses and the victim were being interviewed. Wilson said at 6 p.m. that he did not have much information to release.

"We're still trying figure out what we're dealing with here," he said.

Asked about the victim's car, Wilson said the vehicle had "damage from the accident and a bullet hole."
