This Pug-mix appears to be ready for her close up. She's striving to look her best in the hopes of attacking a new family. She's 9-month-old, up-to-date on shots, has been de-wormed and workers at the animal shelter say she is very playful and would do well in an active family or one with children who would run and play with her.

She will probably weigh between 15 to 20 pounds when fully grown. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.

The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
