This tiny baby girl is only 9 months old. She's a red and brown Chihuahua-mix and is desperately looking for a little spot in somebody's heart. She promises she won't take up too much room as her adult weight is estimated to be only 5 pounds. She is very sweet and gentle and would love to hand out sweet kisses and curl up in somebody's lap and watch TV. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption.

The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten.

Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.

The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
