COVINGTON -- The 2011 Little Mr. and Miss Newton County Pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Alcovy High School. Admission is free.
This is the pageant's 50th year. The theme is "The Stars of Our Eyes." The 1962 winners of the pageant, Tony McGiboney and Sally Pat Robinson, will be honored guests.
The pageant was created by the Newton County Recreation Commission in 1962 to create a platform for children ages 3 to 5 to showcase their talent and provide the community with an entertaining evening. Children are judged on a walk-on presentation to the audience, talent and a question and answer segment.
The pageant has been recognized with several awards over the years by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and the National Association of County Parks and Recreation.
