The Heart N Soul Band is working hard to build a name for itself.The band plays country colored with rock, jazz and blues.The Heart and Soul Band plays the first Friday of every month at the Celtic Tavern in Olde Town Conyers, and Feb. 18 and 19 at the Captain's Table, also in Conyers.

Winter reminder
When daylight came Thursday morning, residents had to look quick to see the beautiful overnight snowfall. Temperatures hovered just above freezing, keeping the roadways clear, but allowing the damp snow to hang heavy on the trees and grass.

COVINGTON -- Newton County School System administrators are looking over data from the recently closed stakeholder survey regarding possible major budget reductions.
NCFS wants to reduce incidents of child arsons
COVINGTON -- There were 15 incidents in Newton County last year of children deliberately setting fires, according to Lt. Cydnie Taylor with the Newton County Fire Service. As fire safety educator for the NCFS, her mission is to reduce those numbers and she urges parents to be vigilant in helping her educate children about the dangers of fire.
NCSS announced literacy days winners
The Newton County School System recently announced the winners of the 2010-11 district Literacy Days Recitation, Drama and Ready Writing Competition.
