CUMMING, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a Newton County worker who became trapped in a trench in Forsyth County Tuesday was dead by the time rescuers were able to reach him.
Rescue crews recovered the the body of Aaron Banks Tuesday afternoon.
Forsyth County Fire Department Capt. Jason Shivers said the 20-year-old man was buried under dirt in the trench on Trammel Road near Buford Highway.
Shivers said rescuers were called to the scene around 2:40 p.m. They cleared Banks' head and shoulders, but just before 4 p.m. discovered that he did not survive.
Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the cause of the accident.
