Firefighters with the Newton County Fire Service were being put through their paces Tuesday as they drove fire engines through a course laid out for them in The Church at Covington's parking lot on Ga. Highway 142. Seven stations were set up which were designed to sharpen firefighters' driving skills as part of the Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operators 3 driving course that is required annual training for every firefighter.
