Rockdale wrestled for the first time in 12 days and went 2-2 at Friday's Rockdale Duals. The Bulldogs suffered their first dual losses of the season against North Gwinnett (39-33) and Marist (39-34), but bounced back to defeat Lakeside-DeKalb (65-13) and Southwest DeKalb (58-21) to claim the third-place trophy. Defending state runners-up Alonzo Allen and Ulises Ponce led Rockdale, each going 4-0.
"I think overall it was a great effort, some tough losses," said Rockdale coach Craig Hargrove. "To come back (from the holiday break) and go over some stuff, we had a few young guys in the lineup. Overall, I'm pleased. We'll be OK."
Heritage's wrestling team finished third at the George Thompson Memorial Tournament at Winder Barrow High School, thanks to six individual placers. Joel Maldonado, Jacob Lambo, Julian George and Boyce Cornwell all picked up first-place medals, while Mitch Clemens was a runner-up and Bryson Heard placed fourth.
