Youth Villages hires counselors with Conyers connections

Donald English, a Conyers resident, and Jasmin Dior Wilson, a native of Conyers who lives in Atlanta, have recently joined Youth Villages. Both serve as teacher-counselors at the Youth Villages-Inner Harbour Campus in Douglasville, which provides residential treatment services for children with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues.

English holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Caribbean University. He is originally from Jamaica.

Wilson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of West Georgia.

Youth Villages, a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully, is one of the largest private providers of services to children and families in Georgia.Dollar General recently opened a new store at 4049 Ga. Highway 142 in Newborn and is hosting a grand opening celebration at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

At the grand opening event, customers will enjoy special deals and free prizes. The first 50 shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.

The store employs six to 10 people. King serves as director of the company's Customer Care Center and is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of customer service, billing, and operations for the 500-plus employee center that serves Georgia Power's customers across the state. King replaces Lenn Chandler, who has accepted a position with the company in Athens

A native of Forsyth, King holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Georgia. He is a graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute, Leadership Atlanta, Leadership Douglas and Leadership Macon.-- From staff reports
