As you ring in 2012, I hope and pray that this is a year of greatness for you.
It is so easy to get caught up in resolutions in January, only to have forgotten about them by February. But maybe this new year we should just focus on doing what God truly created us all to do, and that is to love one another and spread the good news of Him.
Now, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with resolutions and setting goals for yourself. Nothing at all. I just want to encourage you to not put so much pressure on yourself.
We all know if we want some change in our lives, whether it be physically, financially, or otherwise, we don't have to wait on a new year to make those changes. Normally achieving any goals or desires of our heart has a lot to do with our attitude or our motivation in the first place.
So I guess what I'm really trying to say is, maybe we should all refocus on the important things and make sure our priorities are in order first.
There have been times in my own life when I wanted to set out on a new adventure in life, only to fail because I didn't have my priorities in order. If we would only stop, pray and listen to what He wants us to do, then we might all save ourselves some heartache and time.
Life is so very short and far too precious for us to put unnecessary stress on ourselves. Life itself puts enough obstacles in our way for us to add to anything else to it.
Ring in the new year knowing that He has it all under control in the first place. Make sure the He is first in your own life, your marriage, your household, finances and so forth.
Let Him guide you this year. And even though things may not always play out the way you want them to or how we think they should, having peace from the Lord is like nothing else in the world.
Happy New Year!
