STATESBORO, Ga. — Bulloch County authorities say a fire that killed four members of a family in south Georgia is believed to have been accidental.
Mitch Madaglia, a spokesman for Georgia’s fire and insurance commissioner, tells The Statesboro Herald (http://bit.ly/uhu0je) there were no smoke detectors in the single-story brick home.
Sheriff Lynn Anderson says 56-year-old Russell Davis and 55-year-old Wendi Davis were found dead Wednesday morning along with two of their daughters, 19-year-old Susannah Davis and 17-year-old Haley Davis in the southeast Georgia county’s Stilson community.
Anderson says the cause of the fire is under investigation by the office of the state fire marshal. He says autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death.
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the high school.
