STATESBORO — Deputies in south Georgia say it took them less than 10 minutes to apprehend two men wearing masks from children's TV shows after a convenience store was robbed.
Bulloch County sheriff's officials tell the Statesboro Herald that one suspect wore an Elmo mask and another wore a Tweety Bird mask.
Authorities say the men burst into the Vrundavan Food Mart shortly after 3 p.m. Friday and demanded cash.
Sheriff's officials say they left with some money from the store in an SUV, which was stopped by a deputy moments later.
Authorities say they arrested 18-year-old Cody Thatcher Kersey and 19-year-old Charles Timothy Driggers, both of Metter. It wasn't known early Monday whether they have attorneys.
Sheriff Lynn Anderson said the masks were found discarded along the suspects' escape route.
