Business began to get brisk at the woodpile when cool temperatures settled in last week. Here, brothers Mike and Mark Shirah, owners of Elm Stree Pawn and Checking Cashing on Elm Street, split wood for use in fireplaces and wood-burning stoves. The wood, which sells for $25 per wheelbarrow load or $85 per truck load, is mostly hickory, red oak and white oak. The location is open for business from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
