CONYERS -- Organizers of the U.S. flag disposal ceremony at the Georgia Veterans War Memorial has rescheduled the event for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14.
The ceremony was canceled on Dec. 7 due to inclement weather conditions. The unserviceable flag ceremony was planned for the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Tommy Clack, chairman of the Walk of Heroes Foundation and area service manager for the Georgia Department of Veteran Services, said Wednesday's ceremony will still honor those lost during the attack. The ceremony will be performed by the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 77 of Conyers.
Anyone with flags in need of disposal can bring them to the ceremony or drop them off at the Veterans Services office at the J.P. Carr Community Services Building at 983 Taylor St. through 12 p.m. Wednesday.
