Staff Photo: Crystal Tatum Annette German joins other volunteers with Operation Sandbox in packing care packages to be sent to troops overseas at the Covington Armory Wednesday. Founder Virginia Pearson is urging the community to continue to donate, even though the postal deadline for packages to make it by Christmas has passed. "Their Christams is different from ours. Whether it comes on Christmas or a few days later, they are excited to get it," she said. Beef jerky and flavored drink singles, such as Crystal Light, are especially needed.
