OXFORD The Oxford men's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game and sixth of its last seven Wednesday, defeating the junior varsity squad from Tennessee-Temple 81-62 at Williams Gymnasium.
The Eagles (9-3, 1-0 in GCAA Region 17) were led by former Newton High School standout Alex Ordu, who had 27 points. Zachary Lynn and Stephen Simmons added 11 points each.
Oxford closes out the 2011 portion of its schedule Dec. 17 in a conference game at Middle Georgia Tech in Fort Valley. The Eagles will return to the court in 2012 on Jan. 6 at Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Fla.
