East Side High art students host Empty Bowl fundraiser

The art students of Eastside High School are raising money for the Newton County Community Food Pantry by offering homemade chili, created by Chef Coach Hugh Waters, viewing of student artwork and a unique pottery bowl at the event, which will be held at the school from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $10 each. Organizers say the purpose of the dinner is to raise awareness about hunger issues worldwide, as well as on a community level. Last year the group raised over $1,000 for the food pantry. Those attending will be entered into a raffle for a teapot, serving platter or medium-sized decorative bowl.
