RECIPE BOX: Nutter Butter Santas as much fun to make as they are to eat

Santa cookies

Start to finish: 45 minutes to 1 hour (all active time)

One package of Nutter Butter cookies

Two to three 6-ounce packages of Baker’s White Chocolate Squares

Red sprinkles

Red hot candies

Miniature chocolate morsels

Wax paper

Melt the white chocolate using a double boiler, on low to medium heat.

Dip the Nutter Butter cookies about 1/3 of the way down into the white chocolate, and lay them on the a cookie sheet, covered with wax paper.

Let the cookies set in order to allow time for the white chocolate to harden.

Dip the other end, about 1/3 of the way down into the white chocolate.

Lightly cover the most recently dipped end of the cookie all over with red sprinkles, to form Santa’s hat.

Let the cookies set again to harden the white chocolate.

Lightly dab the bottom of two chocolate morsels with white chocolate, to help glue the eyes in place, and place them on the cookie

Dab a little of the white chocolate on the back side of the red hot candies and place it on the cookie to make Santa’s nose.

Put a very small amount of the white chocolate on the tip of the spoon and place it on Santa’s hat, making the ball of his hat.

Make sure to let the white chocolate harden thoroughly before serving the cookies.

Tip: Place the cookies in the freezer for just a few minutes while making these cookies in order to help make the white chocolate harden a little faster.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and at Kelly Richard’s house, it has begun to smell like Christmas, too.

She recently shared a fun cookie recipe with me, Santa cookies, and they taste as sweet as they smell.

Kelly got this recipe out of a magazine and she makes sure to take these cookies to church or anywhere else where she knows there will be a lot of kids.

“Finger licking is perfectly acceptable in this recipe,” said Richard, as you begin to make the cookies, you’ll see why.

The ingredients in making and forming these cookies are quite simple and include, but are not limited to, using Nutter Butter cookies, melted white chocolate and a few other tasty little decorative ingredients.

I’m sure your calendar is quickly filling up with Christmas parties and events to attend. Maybe you’ve got to make some 25-plus cookies for your child’s class. Or maybe you have to take some cookies to the church party. Either way, these Santa treats are sure to be a hit whatever event you will be attending this season.
