More than 3,000 students and their families attended the Back 2 School Block Party on July 24. Organizers said that thanks to the generosity of citizens, businesses, churches and industry, more than 1,000 Newton County students received supplies to start the school year. The event was co-hosted by the Newton County Board of Education, the Washington Street Community Center, Main Street Covington and close to 60 community partners.
