Eastside High School's Academic Team recently won the State Championship in the AAA Classification of the Georgia Academic Team Association State Championship Tournament. During the competition, the team defeated academic teams from Woodward Academy, Pius X, Alatoona and Pickens County. With a 7-1 record in the round-robin series of matches, Eastside claimed the trophy with a tie-breaker advantage over Woodward Academy.
The EHS team was coached by 2008 Newton County Teacher of the Year Eric Adams. Pictured, from left, are Patrick Ford, Cole Rogers, Julianna Laseter, Nic Walter, Conner Bryan, Adhitya Rajasekaran and Adams.
