Holcomb named to GPC Board of Trustees

DECATUR-- Scott Holcomb, General Counsel for J.P. Turner & Company, L.L.C., a brokerage firm based in Atlanta, has accepted a nomination to the Georgia Perimeter College Foundation Board of Trustees.

"Mr. Holcomb offers the valuable perspective of a veteran and an attorney with a passion for education," said GPC President Dr. Anthony Tricoli. "His extensive community involvement and dedication to helping others achieve their dreams will help Georgia Perimeter College enhance student success and strengthen our connection with our community."

Holcomb manages J.P. Turner's legal department and oversees all of the company's legal activity. Prior to joining J.P. Turner, Scott was an associate with Sutherland where he focused his practice on securities matters. While at Sutherland, he was named a Rising Star by "Super Lawyers" magazine as one of the top up-and-coming lawyers in Georgia in 2006 and 2007.

Holcomb is a veteran who deployed consecutively for Operations Joint Forge in Bosnia, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. As a military lawyer, he provided legal advice to the three-star generals who commanded ground forces in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2001 to 2003.

An expert on international law, Holcomb has taught a course on the laws of war at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has provided commentary to National Public Radio and the British Broadcasting Company, and his articles have appeared in the Chicago Journal of International Law, Christian Science Monitor, Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other publications. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a principal with the Truman National Security Project. He is Representative-elect for Georgia House District 82.
