Newton County Sheriff's Office Capt. Doug Kitchens gives Crystal Digby, a victim's services assistant with the Newton County District Attorney's Office, some pointers as she aims her semi-automatic Glock handgun at a target on the firing range. Applications for the course are available at the sheriff's office on Alcovy Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The registration deadline is Oct. 15. Space is limited. The course will be given in two parts and will include classroom instruction and target shooting at the range. For more information, call Range Master Deputy Wayne Scott at 678-625-1542 or Agency Training Coordinator Lt. Paul Gunter at 678-625-1444.
