COVINGTON -- About 6 a.m. Sunday, 911 dispatchers received calls saying there was a nude woman running down Taylor Road in south Newton County. Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the scene and were told the woman was fleeing for her life from her ex-boyfriend, according to Public Information Officer Courtney Morrison.
Morrison said the woman alleged that her ex-boyfriend -- Raymond Medina, 26, of 496 Macedonia Road -- was at her home and had been holding her captive.
"She said he assaulted her and put a gun to her head and wouldn't let her leave," Morrison said.
The 27-year-old woman was eventually able to flee to a neighbor on Henderson Mill Road to get help and notify authorities.
Morrison said when deputies went to the woman's Taylor Road residence, which is located on a side street off Henderson Mill Road, near Ga. Highway 36, the suspect barricaded himself inside and refused to come out.
"(Covington/Newton County) SWAT was called and the suspect eventually came out after a short period of time without incident," Morrison said.
Medina has been charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. Morrison said the investigation into the incident is continuing and further charges could follow.
