COVINGTON -- Snapping Shoals EMC will host its seventh annual Ride for the Cure on Saturday to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
"Relay for Life is such an important cause because cancer affects so many lives," said Snapping Shoals Spokeswoman Leigh-Anne Burgess, who noted that many employees of the company have family members who have battled cancer.
Registration for the motorcycle ride will begin at 9 a.m. at Snapping Shoals headquarters, located at 14750 Brown Bridge Road. The ride begins at 10 a.m. and riders will travel through
Monticello, Shady Dale and Madison, ending near Rutledge. Lunch can be purchased following the ride.
The registration fee is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger. In past years, up to 100 people have participated. All registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and ticket for door prizes. For more information, call 770-385-2888.
Snapping Shoals EMC is a consumer-owned electric cooperative providing electric service to approximately 95,000 homes and businesses in an eight-county area. Most of the utility's service area is in Newton, Rockdale and Henry counties, with portions of DeKalb, Butts, Walton, Morgan and Jasper also included.
