Newton County commuters are invited to join The Clean Air Campaign, Clark Howard and WSB Radio, and give their cars the day off. Commuters are asked to choose at least one day during the week of Sept. 20 to 24, and find a better way to get to work other than driving alone. Commuters are encouraged to be "Clark Smart" and keep some extra cash in their pockets by car pooling, van pooling, teleworking, taking transit, biking or walking to work.
Plus, by giving their car a break, they will get a free sandwich from Chick-fil-A.
If everyone in the region would give their cars a day off one day a week, traffic would reduce by 20 percent, according to a press release issued by the Clean Air Campaign. Other benefits include reduced commuting costs, improved air quality and reduced stress.
Visit CleanAirCampaign.org to learn more about commute alternatives, sign up for the ride match database and read about financial incentives.
Commuters who start using a commute alternative the week of Sept. 20 or any other week throughout the year can earn $3 a day, up to $100, for making the change. Three and four-person car pools are also eligible for monthly gas cards of $40 and $60, respectively.
