NCSO: Man robbed of cash, clothing

COVINGTON -- A 58-year-old man was robbed of his cash and his pants Monday night, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

NCSO Public Information Officer Courtney Morrison said the man reported that about midnight he was driving down Ga. Highway 11 when he thought he had a flat tire.

"He pulled into the Marathon station off Ga. Highway 11 and said there was another car already there," Morrison said.

He described the car as an older model Chevrolet with a red drive-out tag with white writing on it.

"When he got out to check his tires, he was robbed by a white male and a white female," Morrison said. "They strong-arm robbed him of his pants and wallet."

No weapons were shown during the robbery.

The male perpetrator was described as bald and in his 30s and the female was said to be wearing a yellow sundress.

Morrison said the couple made off with the clothing and an undisclosed amount of cash, headed in the direction of Interstate 20.

"Investigators are currently looking at video surveillance at the Marathon station as well as other areas," she said.
