Earlier this year, Covington Lions presented Newton County high school students scholarships.
Lion Frank Jensen presented Niatoria Cook and Zackary Davis of Alcovy High School with a $500 scholarship. Cook plans to attend Georgia State University majoring in nursing to become a neonatal nurse or pediatric nurse. Davis will attend Savannah State, LaGrange College or Albany State to study Business Management.
Lion Mike Waller presented Andrew Green and Lion Ken Royston presented Samantha Miller of Eastside High School with a $500 scholarship. Green, the grandson of Lion Mike Waller, will attend North Georgia College majoring in pre-law; he is presently in the Army Cadet Corp Program at North Georgia College. Miller plans to attend Georgia Tech or Oxford College of Emory majoring in Radiology.
Lion Ken Royston presented Tiffany Hunt and Tyler Ransom of Newton High School with a $500 Scholarship. Hunt plans to attend North Georgia College and State University majoring in biology. Ransom will attend Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern or North Georgia College to major in Civil Engineering.
These six scholarship winners were selected from over 100 submissions from the three high schools.
