COVINGTON — A man was stabbed in the head with a pair of scissors Wednesday night, and a suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, according to the Covington Police Department.
Sam Martin Powell, 28, of 6112 Clane Drive was charged with aggravated assault after witnesses told CPD officers that he had stabbed a neighbor at 6126 Clane Drive. "I observed people standing on the front porch waving their arms for help," Officer J.W. Blankenship said in a CPD incident report. "I then exited my patrol car and observed a white man sitting on the porch holding a bloody towel against the left side of his head." Witnesses said Powell had stabbed the man and then "ran up to the S & S Package Store." Officers went to the store and arrested Powell, who was then taken to the Newton County Detention Center. While EMS arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Newton Medical Center, officers learned from witnesses that Powell "was trying to fight with everyone all day long and walked into the living room and just attacked (the victim)."More like this story
