Community shows support for teacher with cancer
The Rockdale County community is showing its support for a teacher who has always supported her community. In early September, Heritage High School teacher Caroline Ingle was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which is a cancer of the white blood cells that normally fight infections, after what originally felt like a series of flu-like symptoms.
Readying the roundabout
Danny Daniel and Felix Baena of Brooks-Berry-Haynie Associates Inc., electrical contractors from Mableton, install base pedestals for the streetlights that will be placed along the sidewalks of the roundabout at Turner Lake Road and Clark Street. The final coat of asphalt has been poured on the roundabout and next sidewalks and splitter islands will be installed, according to the city's Transportation Manager Billy Skinner. Construction is expected to be completed in November.
Kids fishing event set for this Saturday
Parents looking for a way to spend some quality time with their children are in luck. The FFA-FCCLA Center is partnering with the Junior Bass Busters Club of Covington to offer a parent-child fishing event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
