Man, 45, charged with rape

A Covington man has been arrested and charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred at the Salem Terrace apartment complex on Oct. 2, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

City Council working on parking rules

It appears at least half the City Council has reached a consensus on how to regulate parking of commercial vehicles in residential districts.

Traffic, education key issues in race

Man charged with rape at apartment complex

COVINGTON -- A Covington man has been arrested and charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred at the Salem Terrace apartment complex on Oct. 2, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office. Michael Anthony Preston, 45, of 10706 Magnolia Heights Circle, has been charged with rape, possession of a firearm while trying to commit a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.See Friday's Newton Citizen for a complete article.
