FFA ready for the year

Over the summer, Newton High School FFA students attended a Chapter Officer Leadership Training conference. The chapter was awarded with having the most balanced Program of Activities. The conference helped them prepare their team for this year of service by offering chapter officers the opportunity to discover their role as chapter leaders and learn the value of working as a team; they also received materials to help them guide the chapter through the year and were encouraged to set team and chapter goals. "COLT was a great leadership conference for our officer team because we learned great skills and how to unite as a team," said President Jenna Lawson, a senior. "The FFA runs year round," Talton said. "The FFA officers have a very exciting year planned." The rest of the year include nursery landscape, lawn mower operations, meat evaluation, livestock judging and other activities. Dues for the club are $15, which includes a chapter T-shirt.
