COVINGTON -- Newton County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking a suspect in connection with a stabbing that occurred Thursday.
According to NCSO Public Information Officer Courtney Morrison, the incident was reported around 11 p.m. at 10147 Waterford Road.
"There was a get-together at this residence with several people there and they were playing cards and an argument ensued over a very small amount of money," Morrison said, adding that the disputed cash was in the amount of $1.
The victim left the room during the argument and went to the bathroom. When he returned to the area where the card game was under way, he was stabbed.
"He sustained non-life-threatening injuries," Morrison said.
The victim and witnesses identified the 32-year-old suspect in the stabbing who had left the scene by the time deputies arrived. Morrison said warrants are being taken against him.
During the course of their investigation, deputies ran the name of the host of the card game through their computer and discovered he had three-year-old outstanding warrants from Henrico County, Va., against him.
Arrested and awaiting extradition on charges of robbery, abduction and use of a firearm was Dennis Bolts III, 41, of 10147 Waterford Road.
