This cutie pie could do with a trip to the beauty parlor and then she'll be ready for some serious lap-sitting. A Chihuahuamix, she's about 5 years old and is ready to become queen of the household.

Workers at the Newton shelter says she craves a quiet place, so she'd prefer someone without small children. She's up-to-date on shots, been dewormed and can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington.

The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals.

The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.

Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
