CONYERS -- Police are looking for the suspect following an early morning armed robbery of the Zaxby's on Sigman Road on Saturday.
The robbery occurred about 7:15 a.m. when a young black man entered through the rear door of the restaurant, located at 429 Sigman Road, across from Conyers Middle School.
The employee opening the store, along with the morning delivery man, were in the process of unloading the delivery truck when the robber, armed with a silver over black semi-automatic handgun, entered through the rear gate and confronted the men, according to the police.
The suspect was wearing a black skull cap, a brown bandanna over his face, a dark shirt, dark long shorts, and black and white shoes, described as possibly being Chuck Taylors. The suspect was also wearing a backpack.
After the robbery, the suspect fled the location on foot, heading north.
"We are seeking the help of the public in this case," CPD Capt. Scott Freeman said in a press release. "The clothing and the backpack may be easily recognized by someone. If someone does recognize the clothing or backpack, we urge them to contact us immediately."
Conyers police are offering a cash reward for tips leading to an arrest.
