Newton Citizen
If the word adorable comes to mind, you'd be right on target. This little boy Yorkie is believed to have come from a puppy mill, so he has already had a rough start in life. He is between 9 and 12 months old, and weighs a scant 12 pounds. Workers at the Newton County shelter said he was in pretty bad shape when he was picked up, but a bath and a hair cut made a new man of him.
He's a perfect family pet and deserves a break after the life he's led so far. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption.
The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.
Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
